Purpose

The 5922 project aims to demonstrate the universal beauty of mathematics using design as an experimental support. Indeed in this study it is not about only working on the axis of logic and reasoning, but rather to appeal to emotional intelligence. To do so, it is important to be able to explore the characteristics of mathematics that can bring added value to design on multiple axes, such as the direct visual aspect, the construction of materials, or their implementation processes. Reciprocally, it is also essential to work on the aesthetic image of mathematics in order to validate the hypothesis of an increase of their attractiveness through the manipulation of sensory and interactive design.

To carry out this project, it is important to be able to benefit from methods and working tools compatible with the hybrid character of this topic, which calls at the same time for science, art, engineering and design. This is where the ENGINASHION concept, praising multidisciplinary and transversality, comes in, extoling the work of mixed teams. This methodology aims to be built by setting up a hybrid toolbox, intelligible both by artists and scientists. Thus by promoting transversal communication, it is more realistic to be able to claim to provide an answer to the universal issues of our time that concern eco-design and beauty.

Nevertheless, this whole theory remains limited if it is not the subject of a deep scientific study, supported by experts and in a framework conducive to research. The aesthetic nature of the 5922 project, combined with its important technical dimension, justifies the interest of interdisciplinary studies in the fields of mathematics, innovative materials and design. Particular appeal for Japanese aesthetic principles, non-woven fabrics with shape memory, or even biomimicry are all topics to be explored. Sublimate the aesthetic character of mathematics through science and technology would then generate deep intellectual development in terms of reasoning and emotional intelligence. But more than an exciting research topic, it is also a project that aims to be broadcast internationally. Thus, simply being able to share and deepen this work constantly with any interested person, while being able to transmit a new image of mathematics that would stimulate curiosity and interest for them, would be an unequaled opportunity.
